Chinese New Year SALES in Taipei – Get Shopping!

10 02 2010

If you haven’t noticed, Taipei, there are sales EVERYWHERE. If you didn’t know – that’s for a few reasons: end of winter sales because Chinese New Year marks the start of spring, and the custom to only wear new clothes on Chinese New Year, especially red for good luck.

One quick bicycle ride through 東區 (aka the area around ZhongXiao DunHua), and nearly every store had signs reading 20-70% off, with lots of red in the windows.

Year of the Tiger!

What are you waiting for? There are 3 days left (Wed, Thu, Fri) and Sat is Chinese New Year’s Eve, which means Saturday is your absolute last chance for romance for the SALES of the season.

Buy up the winter stock, support the economy, get a great deal — all to make way for new stock being brought in after Chinese New Year is over. (Ooh new spring stock!!)

Some stores, like NEU, already have some new stock in (OMFG SUNGLASSES i die, go there you must!) so don’t wait until it’s sold out. Borrow money and pay it back with your red envelopes! Or, if you love me and don’t know what you wanna do with all your money, buy me these sunglasses:)

KTZ by Linda Farrow:

Or, like many of my friends, have a nice vacation in a country that doesn’t have Chinese New Year and shop there. Maybe buy something before you leave? It’s great deals everywhere yo. Now is the time to go and shop cuz you can get CRAZY deals.

But srsly – walk around behind Luxy there – there’s SO SO SO many rad shops and everything is on SALE. make time busy people, you’ll thank me when you find something cool!

Shopping – Mob.F @Siam Center Bangkok

5 02 2010

‘The Multibrand Fashion Store” Mob.F — 42 Thai designers all in one place.

The Fashion Rebels – In Mob We Trust

I wish we had this store in Taipei. It’s on the 4th floor of the Siam Center in downtown Bangkok (attached to the Siam BTS skytrain stop).

There is SO much cool shit in this mall, I just wish I had more time to peruse the goods. I did end up with this, Magnett by Wonder Playground:

It’s made from felt that is burned around the edges, which leads me to believe they have a metal stencil that they stamp on the felt to get that shape. I bought the one with a chain so it’s like a necklace, but the majority of them had magnetic closure, so you could wear it like a necklace – or attach it to a shirt where there were magnets on the shoulders. I really wanted to get a shirt, but none of them seemed to be the right style or fit, so I went with the necklace.

I also picked up a sweet dress from Common-T. (No pic yet.)

Justin got the amazing coat he wore to the Tweet-Up here too.

If you’re going there for Chinese New Year or vacation, or you live there, go shopping!

Shopping – Shoes with Love from Bangkok

19 01 2010

I love shoes as much as the next girl, but it’s just torture when they laugh at your big step-sister feet and say it’s impossible to wear these shoes(when they are not!), insisting they just don’t have your size. But that’s Taipei, and a lot of other Asian cities.

But not Bangkok. Sweet, lovely Bangkok. My savior.

Bangkok = Asia’s mecca of shoes in large sizes. ***BING***

WHY? (actually, don’t ask why, just say thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!)

Bangkok has lady-boys. (Fierce, I’ll-bet-you-money-that’s-a-woman kinda sexy lady-boys to be specific.) For lady-boys to be ladies, they need to wear high heels. Men typically have larger feet than women. Market demand usually means people will sell it. Thank you Thais, I will buy it. Kop-kum-mak-ma-kaaaaaaaaaa!

Central World – ZEN

Jeffrey Campbell “Must” – Pay attention the inside top part of heel, yes! The point on the front and back is hot. These are my brand new everyday shoes. The heel is high but long, so the arch is flatter and super comfy. If you see them on the innanet, recommended buy.

Go see who the fuck Jeffrey Campbell is,and prepare to swoon.

Central World – Footwork

Studio TMLS, black suede with gold leather. Short bootie with peep-toe.

Miss, would you like to try a 41 instead? It looks a bit tight. Yes, please. I knew I should’ve bought more while the buying was good. Soooo high and sexy fire on my feet.

Just had to make a stop at Siam Center too.

Copped these at LYN – Highly, highly recommended if you ever go to Bangkok. They alway seem to be having a sale when I show up there, and have HOT shoes up to size 41. (sometimes 42.) I wish I bought 4 more pairs here, cuz now I can’t find them on the Internet. Only in Thailand.

Oh and yes, you’re gonna have to see these on my feet soon.

Siam Mall- Lyn (2nd Floor on the Sukhomvit side of the mall)

Found Lyn’s website. Go check out what else they have that you can only buy in person.

Please let me know if you find this brand anywhere on the internet cuz I already wanna buy more.

Fire on the feet.

Still hunting for a beige/light grey pair of wedges, perhaps strappy, if you see some somewhere…. (I’m size 40.) ;)

Shopping: IMmense::concept STORE

22 12 2009

So, you know a store is good when you go back to buy more. Lately, my theme has been all black everything. I’m so sick of color. This store I just discovered, IMmense::concept,  has been open for 3-4 months. Most of their stock is black and is from Korea, with the exception of a rack of in house designs.(Equally as cool.) They carry both men and women’s clothing, as well as some accessories.

It’s located in Dong Qu (東區)in the same lane as Chaos Punk – right next door. Their exact address is ZhongXiao East Rd. Sec. 4, Lane 205, Alley 29, #4, 1st floor. If you need it in Chinese it’s 忠孝東路四段205巷29弄4號1樓. Wow are you impressed at my Chinese typing ability? I am!

The outside of the store looks like this:

Even though I asked them to take a picture, I am posting this next one only to help you identify the store. You should really go and buy some stuff there. Good designs. I was suprised at how low the price was, considering how expensive the rent is in Dong Qu.

I went there first last Wednesday and bought a new jacket($3600NT). I had been looking for something in black with a super wide neck. I found it!

I went back on Saturday and bought a sweater(just over $2000NT), some leggings($640NT) and a skirt($980NT). Wore all that on Sat. night.(Plus my new Royal Elastic Hi-Tops!)

I would’ve bought more but I ran out of money. I like the neutral palette, they also carry gray and white.  There were some brighter colors for men, but only a few items. They had a lot of jackets I would’ve bought, had they only been a little longer on the hem and the sleeves. Interesting jackets for men – I was tempted to get some menswear as well. The have some cool rings – like a dead bird skull one I was coveting for around $500NT.

Hard to take photos of black stuff at night. But you all know how great I am at taking photos…. HINT HINT birthday is coming soon!

Maybe it was just cuz I was in Sogo shopping before I came across this shop, but I thought they could’ve easily charged more. I’m glad they didn’t, cuz I wouldn’t have so much new stuff from their store! Thank you for having an awesome buyer! The store people are super chill – they aren’t pushy (thank god, cuz I HATE PUSHY ‘PLEASE LET ME HELP YOU’ sales people) and I kept picking out stuff the girl was wearing. I’ll be back soon to shop again.

But really, I posted this so you can go check out their steez, especially you MEN reading this. You need more cool black things in your life. I notice what you wear. Buy something from here to look cooler!

Shopping – Ximen Haul Sat. Dec. 12th

16 12 2009

Okay folks, since I finished my 100 days of not shopping, I can buy whatever I want, like most people. I thought I would go crazy, and buy a ton of stuff, but actually I found the opposite. I was so used to ignoring my wants that when I do go on a shopping spree, I had a hard time parting with my cash.

I went to Ximen on a Sat. – which for most people is a HUGE mistake cuz that’s when everyone else is going there to shop. What a fucking mad house. Amanda came with me and I dragged her around to stores for a solid 4 hours, stopping to get some of the amazing CHAPTI for fuel.

Here’s what I ended up with, which I promptly changed into at the store and walked out wearing it:

Levi’s 511 Jeans

classic punk rock jacket – Every Garment Guaranteed

I got both items at the vintage/second hand store of American imported stuff, although neither of my items were vintage, or second hand. Weird. There is one location hidden down the lane where the Friday 13 Tattoo Shop is – and there’s another one down that super amazing guy shopping lane by the graf just south of the McDonald’s. Someday I will Google Map it.

The jeans are super stretchy (since I learned my lesson after ripping the crotch out of my non-stretch black jeans) and fit my ass oh so nice. I might have to take them in at the bottom or add a zipper too cuz they are almost boot cut wide and I’m so not ready for that yet.

More about the jacket – it is wicked. It has more pockets than I could use (but had to find uses for) and the fit is made for me. Usually, it’s too short in the arms, or too tight on the shoulders. No problemo. The tag also says “50 Years After”, which would sound legit, if it wasn’t followed by CREANING INSTRUCTIONS.

I also picked up a multi-chain necklace, but I’ll show you when I wear it right.
