I love graf. I love stencils. I love when people I know get creative and make cool shit.
Picked these up from the Merry Mattie Eve event, although the first two are mine, and the other 2 I’m holding onto for friends.
First one is from Andy aka DABS aka DBSK1. I like the multi-media – newspaper on canvas, with cut out fabric red drops, paint, pen and marker.
I’m not sure who did this second one, but I’ve seen it a long time ago at the Cain. Buddha with his McDonalds. I bid on this one by mistake, cuz I thought it was the first one. But it was for a good cause, so I couldn’t back out when I found out it was this one. If you’re totally digging it, make me an offer and it’s yours.
This one is made by Xiao Xi, aka City Stalker for Nick’s old clothing store, KEEP. Donated by Nick. Alita bought it, but was leaving to go on vacay the next day, so I’m holding it for her til she comes back.
This one was also made by City Stalker. I like the animal heads. He’s got the stencils on lock!
Thank you boys, for donating these pieces. I’m glad to have them in my home. Just gotta get my drill back and find a home on the walls…
I miss Bangkok. After all this time spent not shopping, it makes me really wanna go shopping. Bangkok is the perfect place for that. It also has a blooming graffiti scene, and I found these pics taken when I lived there for 4 months when I was 21. It was AWESOME, except that I was uber poor. So I had to find great art to lift my spirits.
Feast your eyes on Graf in BKK:
Glad I was able to spot some DABS stickers! Taiwan represent!
And below is a can from this guy Gas who lived by me on Ratchaprarop:
If you haven’t been to Bangkok, and more importantly, Thailand, buy a plane ticket. It doesn’t snow there.
Here’s a shot of me (circa 2004) with my old friend, Joel, who I ran into north of KaoSan Rd. Ya, friend from WPG. ON the street. Fuck crazy small world!
I found this amazing Alice In Wonderland type of art in Commons & Sense Mag – Autumn & Winter 2009 Issue. Masaru Shichinohe is Japanese and you can check out his website here.
All of his art feature the same young girl with a blunt bob and often has a rabbit (which made me think of Alice) and a moon.

So this dude draws pictures from short sentences you send him. It’s really interesting, to see his interpretation of what phrase you send to him.

One more:

This exhibition, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, makes collages out of popular culture characters, and juxtapositions them in intriguing poses. It was hosted by Taipeier Cafe, the spot behind DunHua Eslite (the entrance is off Anhe) and I happened to catch it on the last day. The artist made paper cut-outs, figurines, diorammas, and magnets out of his collages.

I found a link to the entire collection on Flickr, there’s some amazing photos posted. Some call him a master collagist, and a genius in his own right. I found everything but his name! I do know that he is Taiwanese.
Here’s the photos I took of his work:

The above image was also sold as a magnet, so I bought it. $200 NT. It’s pretty big for a magnet, longer than my hand. Awesome addition to my fridge.

On the other wall were these boxes, each with 4 parts, lined up 2 x 10. I’ll just show you a few of them.

It makes me question what he’s trying to say about these characters. I bought the Batman & Robin one cuz it looks like they’re making out, but then you realize the bottom is only one pair of legs. It makes me wonder if he likes men, or wants me to think, hey – that makes sense – Batman & Robin did spend a lot of time together! Ha.
If you like this dude’s art, go check out his Flickr or come over and admire my fridge magnet.
